Jordan Peele likes his zones twilighted, and his third acts a bit twisted.  I appreciate that.  I like his efforts, his ideas, his attempts.  Not sure I fully love the executions.  I mean, he’s got the spirit, but let’s all stop trying to anoint him as the next Rod Serling, Alfred Hitchcock, or whoever they want to call him the next version of after only two movies that were merely good, not mind blowing

With Get Out, it was nothing really fresh, especially if one had ever read or seen The Stepford Wives.  If you saw The Stepford Wives, you’d be like, OK, nice little movie Get Out is, but really, nothing ALL that crazy to see here people 

His new one Us felt original (I hadn’t seen The Twilight Zone episode that inspired Peele until after the fact), and was certainly a step above Get Out, but after a strong eerie first act, I started to grow distant from the film in its blood-splattered second act, and didn’t fully buy into its third, where reveals are further revealed.  BUT, great visuals JP!  Love those hands across America!  And the double duty the actors had to pull – they shirley pulled it off!  But pulling a rabbit out a hat?  Sure, nice lil trick there, but it wasn’t exactly a treat I could fully bite into

Still, Peele’s stuff is appealing, and I’ll keep coming back, even if I’m not fully on board with it… yet!

Although I’m totally onboard with this boat!!!

Get Out

I finally got out and saw Get Out.  It’s true!  And it was good!  Way to make a real movie Jordan Peele!  I thought all you were gonna do was be in a bunch of Keanus (which isn’t a bad thing, juss more of the same kinda thing), and yer directorial debut movie had some Keanu-ish stuff with comic relief from Lil Rel Howery, but some seriously good serious stuff too!

It was scary! And creepy!  Even Catherine Keener was supes creepers jeepers, and so was Caleb Landry Jones and Stephen Root! And Bradley Whitford was douchey as always!!  And Allison Williams, who is not much of an actress, totally did that things she does – being a white chick!!  And Posh Kenneth from Skins (Daniel Kaluuya) is in something other than Skins (that I know of)!  [aside – man, Skins was the fcuking best!]

Half way thru the movie, I knew exactly where it was all going, but I still enjoyed the rest of the ride

Then when I left the theater, I was like, man, I REALLY need to see 1975’s Stepford Wives again.  And so I did (and you can too here), and was like, MAN, Get Out is a modern, but loving and topical, rip-off of The Stepford Wives!  I have a feeling that most people who saw AND loved Get Out have never encountered the Ira Levin novel or 1975 movie version.  You/them peoples should get out (or stay in) and go see that…

…and see Katharine Ross in a see-thru nightie!!!!!!!!

Hello Keanu, the movie where Key and Peele get themselves into a world of trouble trying to save a kitten, by acting a fool, for the benefit of me and you.  It’s like a longform Key & Peele episode, that kinda feels like it forms juss a little too long, but you’ll laugh here and there, AND YOU WILL LAUGH, and enjoy yourself throughout!

And there’s a kitten!  And Will Forte and Method Man, and Tiffany Haddish, who is one to watch, so WATCH OUT!!
