Daffy Qaddafi

Malice In Wonderland

Comics Unlimited – 1986

This scathing political satire stars Moammar Qaddafi, the mad dog of the Middle East, as his dreams are invaded by a politically correct Daffy Duck. Daffy becomes a biting commentator intent on tearing down the illusions Qaddafi has built to fool his people and himself. Defeated by Reagan, small children, and by his own words, Qaddafi shows his true face, that of a foolish zealot and a mad-dog terrorist.

This is a one-shot book, published at the height of American anger over Qaddafi and his regime in Libya. The book is well researched, often drawing on news reports and making light of Qaddafi’s “Green Book.” The comical, insulting sketches of Qaddafi and the inventive use of Daffy as the omnipotent voice of reason makes for a historically appealing and amusing comic.
