1960 Vince Lombardi Hand-Drawn & Annotated Green Bay Packers Plays for Jim Taylor & Paul Hornung
On the TWA ticket folder presented here, stamped “Dec. 9 1960,” Lombardi took time out on his flight to hand-draw three offensive plays for ‘Thunder & Lightening ‘ for the upcoming December 10th game versus the Niners at Kezar Stadium. The myriad of circles, squares, and arrowed lines are annotated with notes such as “161 Taylor – 88 P.H.,” “Weak Side Sweep With Taylor,” “Red N Brown,” “T.D. Sweep 4,” “Hornung D/P,” “Contain Them On The outside,” and “Taylor FB Slant.” The diagrams and text were executed in bold blue ballpoint and felt tip.
The Packers won that game 13-0, with Taylor rushing for 161 yards and Hornung recoding eighty-six rushing yards and twenty-five receiving yards. [HA]
